A lens.Image via Wikipedia

In concentric bifocal lenses the near and far layers are arranged in rings, the near vision is in the center and the far vision layer on the outer ring. Some people find it a little tricky to become used to Acuvue bifocal contacts lenses. If you have evolved to bifocal, trifocal, or progressive eyeglass lenses, you may already understand the basics of using translating bifocal contacts, in which the distance section is straight ahead and above center, while the reading zone is lower.

While the eye is seeing thru the Acuvue bifocal contact lens some light from distant objects will go thru the near vision, and the light from near objects will go thru the distant part of the lens. The eye takes both in focus and out of focus at the same time. It is up to the brain to work out which is the specified image.

There are a variety of resources available on the Internet, through your eye care consultant, and directly from the manufacturer of Acuvue bifocal contact lenses. There are discount contact lens sites and some makers offer discounts to you for trying them out.

This may help you make a decisions to whether these are the right choice for you. If you think they might be good fit for you, you can get free trial contact lenses.
